Glossy & Satin Chrome: Two ways to reflect contemporary design

Glossy Chrome is expressive and highly reflective. It captures its surroundings, intensifies the definition of a structure and gives metal a stronger visual role within the interior.

Satin Chrome offers a more restrained interpretation. Its diffused surface softens reflection while retaining the precision and material character of metal, establishing particularly nuanced relationships with timber, upholstery and colour.

Glossy Chrome

Reflective and expressive, Glossy Chrome is available for Noha Chair and Noha Executive Chair by Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba. Its mirror-like structure creates a precise counterpoint to Noha’s soft upholstered volumes, bringing greater definition to the collection’s characteristic balance between comfort and technical precision.

Satin Chrome

More restrained in its relationship with light, Satin Chrome extends across Perxa, Ears, Funda, Quadra and Maarten.

On Perxa by Piero Lissoni, it creates a measured contrast with the warmth of solid ash; on Ears, also by Lissoni, it underlines the slender structure beneath its curved seat. Funda by Stefan Diez gains a clearer distinction between its metal frame and soft, replaceable cover, while Quadra by Mario Ferrarini brings satin metal into dialogue with curved timber. On Maarten by Victor Carrasco, the finish gives its slender bases a precise metallic character across both chairs and stools.

A more responsible approach to chrome 

Viccarbe’s Glossy Chrome and Satin Chrome are produced using trivalent chromium, a safer alternative to the more harmful hexavalent chromium still used in conventional chrome-plating processes.

Trivalent chrome is more costly to produce at industrial scale, which translates into a higher price point. This helps explain why many manufacturers continue to rely on hexavalent chromium. For Viccarbe, however, reducing production costs cannot come at the expense of the health and wellbeing of the people behind each product.
