Residence on Gran Vía Marqués del Turia – Valencia

fos Studio. signs the renovation of a residence located in one of Spain’s first skyscrapers (1960), in Valencia’s emblematic Ensanche district. The main challenge of this interior transformation was to preserve its mid-century spirit while adapting it to contemporary needs.

The particular corner location and the irregular shape of the main living area, along with the robust pillars that define two main axes in the space, determined the overall layout. The studio chose to strip the structure bare, revealing these reinforced concrete pillars that, with a subtle brutalist nod, bring great expressiveness to the home. The rest of the spaces were designed in neutral tones and freed from unnecessary ornamentation to highlight the character of these structural elements.

Seeking natural light, the daytime areas were placed along the chamfered façade, while connections between rooms — such as the kitchen, entrance hall and corridor — were carefully designed to enhance flow. In the living-dining room, where the neutrality of the elements contrasts with the rawness of the pillars, stands our Burin table, designed by Patricia Urquiola, featuring a black base and a matte oak polished top, paired with a set of Quadra chairs by Mario Ferrarini, with a black frame, polished walnut seat, and leather-upholstered cushion.

In the lounge area, two Funda Bold lounge chairs by Stefan Diez stand out, both with black structures and upholstered in earthy tones. Between them, the Burin Mini table in black completes the setting.
