Perxa and Quadra, fully upholstered

6 October, 2026

Some chairs are known by their line long before their material. Perxa, by Piero Lissoni, and Quadra, by Mario Ferrarini, belong to that group: two precise, light silhouettes that have found their place in meeting rooms, restaurants and living rooms.

Both collections now come in a fully upholstered version, covering seat and backrest. The form of each chair stays intact. What changes is the surface the body meets, dressed in fabric or leather for a more comfortable seat and a warmer presence.

Perxa, Lissoni’s line upholstered

Perxa takes its name from the pole used to push boats across the still waters of the Albufera, the freshwater lagoon that stretches out some ten kilometers south of Valencia, just a short distance from Viccarbe. From that upright gesture comes a lightweight chair, with armrests and backrest in solid ash and a wooden seat that receives the body without excess.

In this new configuration, upholstered in fabric or leather, seat and backrest are fully covered while the armrests leave the ash exposed. The contrast keeps the frame of the chair legible and adds softness where the body rests.

The upholstery brings comfort and warmth to spaces where people stay seated for hours, while the ash armrests keep the frame of the chair legible.

The collection now comes in three options: wooden seat, upholstered seat cushion or full upholstery. All three share the profile Lissoni drew for the chair, so comfort can be calibrated across a single project without switching design language. The fully upholstered version also stacks, up to four high. A frame in white, black or satin chrome and five wood stains round out the pairing with the chosen upholstery.

Quadra, architectural drawing

Quadra began as a tribute to the details, lines and tools of architectural drawing. Its right angles and curved seat have taken it into classrooms, cafés, meeting rooms and homes.

Alongside the existing options (wooden seat, cushion, or cushion with upholstered backrest) comes a fourth that wraps the chair entirely. In leather and eco-leather, a central seam where backrest meets seat lets the material follow the curve of the chair precisely. In fabric, the transition runs without a visible seam.

The upholstery covers seat and backrest and follows the curve of the chair, while the colors bring warmth to the space.

Unlike the rest of the family, the fully upholstered version does not stack. It is intended for spaces with a settled layout, where the chair holds a permanent place of its own.

Chairs to linger in

Dressed from seat to backrest, both chairs gain in comfort. The upholstery cushions back and body and makes long stretches easier, whether a slow lunch that drifts into the afternoon or a meeting that runs over. That is why they belong in fine dining restaurants, hotel lounges, boardrooms and executive meeting rooms, and residential living rooms: places where people stay seated for hours. There, fabric and leather also bring warmth and let each piece settle into the material palette of the interior.
