Unwind Hotel & Bar Otaru – Japan
Unwind Hotel & Bar Otaru represents the rebirth of an antique hotel located in Hokkaido, Japan. Its vintage look & feel perfectly matches with contemporary details and exquisite finishes. The former “Echuya Hotel” was developed in 1937 to be the first ever hotel in Hokkaido, exclusive to overseas visitors. During wartime, the place was used by the army as an officers’ club and right after it ended, it was taken over by the US.
The art deco influence is obvious and is clearly seen in the liberal use of stained glass throughout the building. The glass contrasts with the bright shade of the Aleta chairs, a design from designer Jaime Hayon for Viccarbe. A modern chair with reminiscences of the Mediterranean sea that brings warmth and harmony into the magic room. A flexible piece to stand the frenetic pace of the hotel.
With a strategic location and superb facilities, Unwind Hotel & Bar is an excellent base to enjoy and discover Otaru.
