Perxa, now also a stool

21 October, 2026

The Perxa collection, designed by Piero Lissoni for Viccarbe in 2024, extends to a stool in two heights, counter and bar. It keeps the silhouette, materials and proportions of the chair, adjusting only what a different posture requires.

A pole on La Albufera

On La Albufera, the lagoon that lies very close to Viccarbe, the boatman moves forward by planting a long pole in the bed of the water. That pole, the perxa in Valencian, gave its name to the chair Piero Lissoni drew for the house. It has a light structure, a curved backrest in solid ash wood and armrests that hold the body without enclosing it.

The stool takes up the original image more literally. It rises along a vertical line, upright and steady, carrying the gesture of the chair into another format without changing its character.

From a pole resting on a boat to the sanding of a curved wooden piece and several light wood pieces with visible grain
From the perxa of La Albufera to the curved wooden backrest: the origin of the name and the craft of the chair.Three images joining origin and craft: a wooden pole, the perxa that gives the collection its name, resting on a boat beside the water; hands sanding a curved wooden piece; and several curved pieces of light wood with the grain in view. A way to show how the image of La Albufera reaches the curved backrest of Piero Lissoni’s chair.

The same language, a different posture

Perxa was never just a chair, but a way of sitting: a curved wooden seat, a backrest that receives the back without excess, and a steel structure light enough to move and sturdy enough to stay all day.

The stool carries that grammar into a second model and alters only what height demands. The backrest sits in a new position relative to the armrests, suited to someone perched on a high seat rather than settling into a chair. The curves, the proportions and the solid ash armrests remain, and chair and stool read as pieces of one family.

A seat for the in-between

Some places are neither dining room nor meeting room: the bar where a drink comes before dinner, the kitchen island where conversation runs alongside the cooking, the break area, or the corner where a brief encounter is settled away from the conventional table. The Perxa stool answers these in-between spaces, in hospitality, in the workplace and at home. Wherever a project calls for height rather than a full seat, it carries Lissoni’s language to the bar or counter, with the same warmth of wood the chair brings to the table.

Three ways to sit

Like the chair, the stool comes in three configurations: fully in wood, with an upholstered seat cushion, or fully upholstered in seat and backrest, in fabric or leather. All three keep the silhouette Lissoni gave the collection, offering specifiers a graduated range of comfort and finish without altering the design.

The armrests are always in solid ash wood, including on the fully upholstered version, so wood is present in every option. The collection’s wood stains and structure finishes, among them satin chrome, complete the possible combinations.

All three keep Piero Lissoni’s curved silhouette and the wooden armrests, so each offers a different level of comfort and finish without changing the design.

Two heights for one project

The Perxa stool is available in two heights, counter and bar, so that a single collection can resolve the different surfaces of a project. Counter height suits kitchen islands, informal work counters and low, relaxed meeting settings. Bar height accompanies bar counters, high tables and taller social and hospitality settings.

The collection can therefore run through an entire project, from an office work café to a hotel bar, with the chair at the table and the stool at the bar or counter.

The boatman on La Albufera steers standing up, leaning on the pole. The Perxa stool returns that original posture to the collection: a family made for sitting at the table also finds its place at the bar
