Rubén Mateos Brea, born in Plasencia (Extremadura), graduated in Industrial Design from the Universitat Politècnica de València. At that time, he began his professional journey at Viccarbe, where he has developed his career and currently serves as Creative and Design Director. Over nearly two decades at the Valencia-based company, he has built close collaborations with internationally renowned designers such as Naoto Fukasawa, Jaime Hayon, John Pawson, and Patricia Urquiola, gaining in-depth insight into creative processes from both technical and strategic perspectives. 

His interest in the world of habitat extends beyond aesthetic or constructive dimensions. Mateos Brea approaches design from an anthropological perspective, understanding objects as carriers of culture and meaning in everyday life. This sensitivity to the narrative and intention underlying each project has led him to engage in initiatives related to the cultural and heritage value of the city of Valencia. 

Alongside his professional practice, he is also involved in teaching, lecturing in specialized master’s programs in design and interior design at various institutions.
