Cubow: comfort from within

Cubow marks Viccarbe’s latest release and the first collaboration with the young designer Meike Harde. Comprising an lounge chair and a two-seater sofa, Cubow envelops the user with an apparently spontaneous “cloud” effect. However, this is the result of precise tailoring of foams and a perfectly controlled pull. Ergonomics and comfort emerge from within these pieces.

Viccarbe embraces Meike Harde’s seating concept, a clear nod to the 1970s adapted to contemporary needs, such as a more active sitting posture and multifunctional use. Meike is renowned for her research into materials and textile applications. In Cubow, she has meticulously worked on every aspect of the finish alongside the Viccarbe team, achieving a solid piece with soft, visually relaxed areas contrasted by zones where tension plays a fundamental role in both functionality and aesthetics. This visible contrast begins with a geometric base—a cube whose sides lose rigidity upon reaching the seam that delineates the seating area, where form and fabric relax to create an embrace. An invisible knot pulls inward, generating at the center the opposite effect of its sides: an organic, involuntary sensation. A wrinkle that expresses its individual character and warmly cradles the sitter.

In both lounge chair and sofa versions, Cubow is a piece where upholstery takes center stage, allowing for play with dimension, color, and texture in various settings. Thanks to the technical fabric at its base, it is suitable for intensive use, making it perfect for office or hospitality spaces, lounge areas, or active rest zones.
