Aleta, the shark’s gesture flows into three more pieces

8 October, 2026

It began with a single stroke: the profile of a shark cutting through water. Since 2017, the Aleta collection by Jaime Hayon has carried that gesture across a family of seating that runs from chair to stool, and from lounge chair to executive chair. The collection extends to three further variants: Aleta Plus, Aleta Mini Lounge and Aleta Executive Low . The drawing, its signature, remains untouched in all three. Each one adjusts a single proportion to meet a need specifiers had yet to find within the range.

Proportions change, the line holds

Hayon conceived Aleta as a balance of grace and precision, a silhouette that reads the same on any base and at any height. That consistency is what allows the collection to grow without losing its identity. The three variants start from existing models and alter only what is needed: the width of the seat, the scale of the lounge chair or the height of the backrest.

The graphic includes his hand-drawn sketches of the Aleta chair, in blue and ochre, and a small shark drawing annotated “Aleta chair”, a nod to the shark profile that inspired the collection.

Aleta Plus

Aleta Plus is the wider-seated version of the Aleta chair, designed for larger frames. The seat gains width while the chair’s line stays intact, so both versions can sit side by side in the same project and read as one.

The outer back of the backrest can take a different finish from the inner face, in leather, eco-leather or wood. Depending on the base, two further options come into play for comfort and everyday use: a tilt mechanism that allows a gentle rocking motion with the body, and a self-return mechanism that brings each chair back into place once its occupant stands up.

The chairs combine brown upholstery with a dark outer back, set on black four-star swivel bases. The seat gains width while the chair’s line stays intact, so Aleta Plus fits comfortably into meeting spaces and workplace projects.

Aleta Mini Lounge

The Mini Lounge takes the Aleta lounge chair down to a smaller scale. It is reduced in depth, width and height relative to the Aleta Lounge, while keeping the silhouette shared by the whole collection. The result opens up specification options for more compact interiors, where a lounge chair of generous proportions struggles to find its place. It is offered with a wooden base or a flat swivel base.

Aleta Executive Low

Aleta Executive Low keeps the character of the Aleta Executive with a lower backrest. The chair carries a lighter presence around the table while retaining the elegance that defines the collection’s executive line.

A fuller family

With these three variants, Aleta brings together chairs in two widths, bar and counter stools, lounge chairs in two scales, a low table and an executive line with a lounge chair and a chair in two backrest heights. A single collection able to furnish an entire project, from reception to boardroom, without changing its language.
